Fort Wayne, IN - Last week Paul Menard and Matt Crafton took an early flight to Fort Wayne, IN for the Menards Grand Opening Store appearance and were immediately put to work...

Put to work installing insulation that is. Both drivers took part in a local Habitat for Humanity build project a few miles from Menards.

In addition to the added labor help, both Menards and Johns Manville teamed to provide the Habitat house with the best in Johns Manville's Formaldehyde-Free insulation.

"I'm going to be honest in saying I have never hung insulation, but I'm anxious to learn," said Menard at an impromptu press conference outside the house. "It's always interesting to learn more about our sponsors, their products, and in this case, to see and install the product for its end use. And the fact that it's going into a Habitat house and everyone here is helping the cause makes it that much cooler." (no pun intended)

In all, Menards and Johns Manville donated over 2,000 square feet of insulation for the home, which was built with the U.S. Green Building Council's "LEED" designation.

As is the case with just about any event featuring Paul and Matt together, there was a competition. Both were given a chance to install a number of R38 batts in the ceiling, then were individually timed to see who could perform an installation quickest without cutting any corners.

Menard was declared the winner, stapling a 6-foot batt to the rafters in 1 minute and 30 seconds, but Crafton put forth a formal protest after hearing the results.

"There seemed to be a difference in what exactly my time was, because I had my installation a second quicker than Paul's," laughed Crafton. "Even so, if you look closely, my install was much cleaner - it's obvious who the better the installer really is!"

Menards and Johns Manville would like to thank Habitat for Humanity and their local Fort Wayne chapter for allowing them to be a part of the build.
